Glimpse

What a wonderful weekend we had!  We worked very hard, but we made time to play as
well.  Our back patio renovation is progressing nicely and we are so excited about what
we were able to accomplish this weekend.  We completely demolished the old patio,
removed all the debris, and cleaned the entire area.  We prepared the surface for the
new patio by laying down dirt and sand and leveling the ground.  We made one last trip to
our local Home Depot (where we are literally on a first name basis with the employees)
and purchased all of the new stones we plan to use for the new space.  Now, all that's left
to do is lay them out!  Before and after photos and a few tips for DIY projects: coming soon!
Besides playing in the dirt and working hard all the live long day, we spent lots of time
together just relaxing at home and enjoying the unseasonably cool weather.  Isabelle
and I painted ceramic stones we made for the garden, we all slept a little later than
normal, and, after our fantastic date night, Shawn and I enjoyed popcorn and a movie
on the big couch.
The weekend was not restful by any means.  In fact, I'm more tired now than I was
when I got off work on Friday.  But, it was FUN.  It was productive and full.  I can look
around my house and see a thousand things that still need to be done, but who really
cares at this point?  My muscles are sore from hauling dirt to and fro, my throat hoarse
from laughing at my husband's weird jokes, and my shirt is covered in baby spit-up.

That's really all I need right now.

Always nice when you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of some of your labors.

Hey Liv, this is Shannon (Hill) from the Navy. Ok, before I start, I have to say I just wrote this beautiful comment, that some how was lost. Breathe, 10,9,8.... breathe. Ok, I'm back!
I have followed your blog for about 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it. You have always had a glow about you that I've admired. Thank you for allowing us to take a peek inside your inner most thoughts and sharing your family. You inspire me so much and you always have. You have a beautiful blog and the 1 thing I have always loved is that you know exactly who you are and what you are worth, and you are soooo real. You always have been. That's awesome.
I have told Charlie, but never had an opportunity to tell you, how much you have touched my life and what an inspiration you have been while we shared time on that god-aweful ship! It was horrible, it was dreadful and it was mentally draining, but it was also a wonderful experience for all of us. We learned, cried, laughed and grew together. I thank God everyday for that 'Japan experience.' I am definitely a different person, but a better person for having all of those experiences.
I learned from you on that ship and today I continue to learn from you through your blog. I thank God for you and I thank God for the light that you continually shine and share with everyone you come in contact with. Lot's of love, Shann
