As I sit here finishing my first cup of tea, I can not help but giggle as I look out
our back window. Our yard is buzzing with activity early this Saturday morning
in preparation of our back patio renovation! My uncle focusing intently as he maneuvers
his tractor, Shawn directing traffic while simultaneously operating a jack hammer, a
dump truck depositing more dirt and sand than I imagine necessary for the size of
this project, and a healthy serving of testosterone to keep the whole operation running.
We are ready for action! I have been strictly instructed to stay safely tucked away
inside until all heavy machinery has left the vicinity. I take that as they have things
under control out there and don't want this little Mama trying to take over. Apparently,
I have a reputation for doing such things...

Since buying this house two years ago, DIY home renovation projects have become
our favorite hobby. Shawn and I love nothing more than deciding on a project to tackle
and then spending weeks researching, organizing, planning, and shopping for it. It is
a wonderful way to come together as a couple and spend quality time with one
another, lending our talents to a greater good. And so this weekend we are renovating
our back patio, ripping the old, unlevel and crumbling brick and replacing it with a
lovely Tuscan stone surface. I can't wait to get my hands dirty, as soon as I'm
allowed outside:)

And what's a home renovation project without music to sing along to? Here's one
of my current playlists, sure to be filling the air in our backyard this weekend.

It sounds like you're a great renovation team. My husband and I had planned to buy a fixer-upper, but after we renovated our condo, we realized we should probably buy a newer house if we wanted to stay married. Haha!

What a great way to spend time together! Since I rent my apartment, I can only live through other's great home renovation projects. Thanks so much for reading my guest post over on Mandy's blog. Looking forward to reading more of your posts. Hope the project goes well!

Hi, sounds like a great adventure. We also have some renovations coming up in a few months. Our dilapidated pool is causing some concerns for our deck, so all said and done, it's going to get filled in and the kiddies get a baseball field. to play in. Nice to visit your blog and you now have a new follower.
Good luck with your project! We're renters and the fear of all the DIY that comes with it!
How exciting, look forward to seeing how it turns out!
Can't wait to see the results!
xo,
Sarah
Enjoy. My step dad loved that about the house he bought with my mom. He was allowed to get creative in anyway he saw fit. Thanks for the walk down memory lane for us.
Cant wait to see pictures of your finished product.
Just found your site through FTLOB and I think it's great. I remember those days where I had all the time in the world to do whatever home reno projects we wanted to do. Then along came kids!! No longer have as much time and I miss it! I look forward to coming back and reading more.
Thank you all so much! Home renovation projects are a big passion of ours and I plan to blog about some of our upcoming projects soon!
