Auld Lang Syne

Happy New Year!  I'm trying really hard to think of this new year in terms of
growth, productivity, health and happiness, NOT in terms of scary end of the world
scenarios.  I love the feeling of a new year, a new start, lists drawn up of goals and hopes
and dreams.  We spent our New Year's Eve at home, completely spent from our fun
filled Christmas festivities.  We canceled party plans and instead spent the evening with
our girls, making a family resolution poster and hiding out from the rain.  I cooked
salmon stuffed with crab meat dressing for dinner and used our fancy dishes just
because.  We hung out on the front porch and played with sparklers and watched
Shawn's annual firework show.  After we put the girls to bed, Shawn and I sat on the
front porch and watched our neighbor's light up the night sky, talking and enjoying each
other and an Abita Amber or two.  We went back inside to watch Coldplay's New Year's
Eve show on Austin City Limits, complete with Red Velvet Cheesecake and a shared glass
of milk.  At midnight, we shared sweet kisses on the sofa, thanked each other for the
most simple and special New Year's Eve, and then went to bed.  The girls both ended up
in the big bed with us by the end of the night and we woke up to our first day of 2012
all snuggled up together.  I think it was a good omen.
Wishing you all a very happy new year filled with love, big dreams, and the amazing
hope of possibility!
