Steppin' Out Saturday

Saturday, we stepped out downtown for a local art festival.  Shawn's favorite uncle
and cousins are visiting us from California and we have had the best time showing
them around our beloved Louisiana.  Jennifer and I are kindred spirits and have been
soul connected since we first met so many years ago.  We have watched her grow into
the most beautiful young lady, months away from earning her Art History degree from
ASU, wise beyond her years and so full of positive energy.  One of the most beautiful parts
of marriage is gaining another family, adding to the tribe you call your own.  I am so
thankful for extended family and long weekends with the ones I love.
Not the best SOS representation, but Brees has basically been living in the Ergo and so
a part of my ensemble they both shall be.  This little love has been a bit fussy with two
new teeth breaking through and she is in need of some extra attention in the form of
being glued to my hip.  Thank God for carriers and amber teething necklaces.
Not only were we able to view several amazing art exhibits and a slew of local talent, but
we also had the opportunity to make some art of our own.  Cardboard wrapped in
aluminum foil, painted with oil pastels, and then toothpicks used to create
embossed designs: beautiful new additions to our living room wall!  Isabelle is a natural
when it comes to all things creativity and I am constantly inspired by her
artistic eye.
It was a beautiful day, walking around our lovely downtown area, murals and
sculptures, music and great company.  I bought an iron sculpture from a local artist
made of scrap metal from his farm.  He and his wife raise cattle and sugar cane and
create amazing ornaments using recycled goods.
Score.

Looking gorgeous and I love that carrier color. I heart carriers - they are how I made it through many nights and the only way I still can get dinner finished.

You look so hip wearing a carrier. I always feel like a crazy person when I wear mine in public. For some reason I can't get my mind around the new girth, and I'm worried I'm going to slam Alexa into something! (I realize this last sentence makes me SEEM like a crazy person.)

Sounds like a perfect Saturday. I see you ladies are looking as cute and stylish as ever. Looks like nothing has changed since I have been absent from the Blogosphere :)

You guys are so cute! Do the amber necklaces really work? My lil man is having a tough time right now & I was considering trying one...but I'm afraid he will pull it off & break it instead. :-/
