Glimpse

This past weekend we enjoyed:
A birthday lunch with my Pops and a trip to the alligator reserve...
The girls and I took my dad to lunch for his birthday and visited the local alligator
reserve. Since my parents got divorced a couple of years ago, I value my time with
each of them so much more because it is not as often as I was once accustomed to.  We
have to split our time now, making sure to see each of them and make them a priority in
our lives while they each go down their separate paths.  It has been an extremely
painful process for all of us but we try with all our might to make it work.  Days like
these, enjoying good food and making my Pop feel as special as he deserves, lets me
know that we are going to be okay.  This is the new version of our family and we are making
it work the best we can.  Happy birthday to the man who first told me I could do anything
I put my mind to.  You are so loved.
A baby cousin slumber party...
The girls and I hosted a slumber party for our cousins this past weekend complete
with Pinterest inspired recipes, Valentine's Day desserts, and more noise and chaos than
this house has seen since Christmas.  The littles had the best time playing with each
other and dragging out every toy we own and the mamas got to catch up on
good conversation in between the baby wrangling.  After we got the kids into bed, we
put our jammies on and cuddled on the couch like we were back in the 8th grade, staying
up way past our bedtimes and watching "Breaking Dawn", swooning every single
time Edward's face crossed the screen.  We are suckers for babies, desserts, and
vampire movies, my cousins and I...
It was a weekend full of love, the perfect preview to Valentine's Day and all the fun
we've had this week...

You do the sweetest things with your family. I love that you are all so close. My sister lives about four hours away and my brother two hours away in a different direction so it is hard to get everyone together at once, but when my sister moves back (within the next couple of years) I hope to have some sleepovers and such of our own.
