Steppin' Out Saturday: With Santa

Saturday, we stepped out for an afternoon of shopping and a trip to see Santa Claus.
Every year, we get all dressed up, wait in line anxiously, and ooh and ahh over Santa and
his elves.  We've had the same Santa at our mall for as long as I can remember and he is
so patient and sweet, Cajun accent and all.  This year, I braced myself for Brees to have a
full blown meltdown, knowing how shy she is with strangers.  As we walked toward the
big bearded Santa, his arms outstretched, ready for the girls to tell him all their
Christmas wishes, she clung to me a little tighter.  I handed her over gently as
Isabelle cheered her on, "It's okay, sissy, this is Santa Claus!  He loves us!".  She
started crying as soon as I stepped away, looking around with her big brown eyes in a
panic.  But, just as I was about to swoop in for the rescue, Santa worked his magic, patting
her back and reassuring her.  She reached up and petted his beard and all was well in
the mall's makeshift North Pole.  The photographer captured our overpriced keepsake
photo and we all high fived one another, the Christmas season has officially begun!
Blouse and leggings: F21
Boots: AA Western
Scarf: Old Navy
Dress and leggings: Old Navy
Boots: Kohls
Sweater jumper: Koala Baby
Behold our daughters in all their Christmas glory...
We managed to pick up a few more items on our Christmas list and then enjoyed a dinner
of burgers and shakes.  We made it home in time to watch LSU finish a perfect 13-0
season, making the Fighting Tigers the 2011 SEC Champs.
It was a beautiful day here in Louisiana.

Everyone's looking gorgeous! I wish I were wearing a jumper like Brees' right now -- it's chilly, and I know Koala Baby makes some cozy clothes. :-)

We're going to take Alexa to see the mall Santa this weekend. Fingers crossed it goes well!
