Weekend Warrior

This weekend, I didn't do a single load of laundry.  I didn't tackle my chore list or sift
through my mail pile.  Errands were pushed to the side and I completely ignored my
carefully written out lists on the fridge.
I don't know what has gotten into me lately, this is some type of growing trend that has
taken over me the last two weeks.  It is becoming easier and easier to stare responsibility
in the face and laugh, dancing away from the tasks I usually find so pressing and
instead burying my head in the here and now.  Our weekend was filled to the brim
with family, sunshine, love, and inspiration.  There were moments of sheer laziness, and
I didn't feel the least bit guilty for them.  I have plenty of time to catch up on the
grown-up side of life this week, especially now that I feel completely
rested and rejuvenated...
There was music and a singing Papa bear...
Playdates and sleepovers with very best friends, swimming and playing in mud,
telling secrets under the covers and catching pet frogs in the treehouse...
A mama and baby picnic under the pecan tree, playing with leaves and watching the
squirrels zip from one branch to another...
Something is definitely happening to my Type A personality, a wall is breaking
down somewhere in my over achiever psyche.  I'm beginning to accept the reality that
the world will not end just because my house isn't perfectly squared away.  Weekends
were made for these picture perfect moments, designed to give our souls a break from
the hustle and bustle of the week.  And I'm learning, slowly but surely, to take advantage
of that.  It was a wonderful couple of days with my favorite little tribe in the world.
It's as simple as that.

Well I think that's pretty darn awesome that you're overcoming the need to control all and always be responsible. Like John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."

I love this post!
I, too, threw in the towel this weekend after 30 minutes of cleaning and said, "Let's get out of here."
Eventually I will need to tend to the toilets, though. ;-)

Family moments are so much important - When we understand there is always enough time to clean and do the laundry, that not doing it one day won't change the way the earth is turning, we start living and enjoying pure moments of happiness and bliss as a family.
Looks like you had an amazing week-end - Beautiful shots and great memories. What else to ask for?!

Good luck with the laundry and cleaning this week!
