The Girlfriend Guide: Jess from IROCKSOWHAT

Now that I've introduced you to my very best friends, it's your turn!  The Girlfriend
Guide has become a very special endeavor here on Soul Singing Liv and we will now
be featuring other bloggers and their best friends on a weekly basis.  This week, Jess
from IROCKSOWHAT will be sharing her insight on girlfriends as well as introducing you
to her best friend: Jenny.  I have been obsessed with Jess's blog for some time now and
love her honest, witty take on life, her mad photography skills, and her down to
earth spirit.  Visit her here and I just know you'll feel the same.

Jess
I'm living it up, hanging with my kid, and smooching on my husband.
I also blog too.
1. Introduce us to your best friend!  When, where, and how did you meet?
My bestfriend is Jenny and we met when we were 12 and 14 (I was 12). Her parents were
the new pastors of my church and my mom made me go to youth group one night. It
was awkward. Her cat got attacked by a dog that night and we really didn't talk too much.
She was crying the whole time.

2. What is your personal definition of friendship?
Eh, someone that you don't have to talk to. You can just be quiet together.
3. What qualities do you look for in a girlfriend?
They have to be like me, and it's really hard to find someone like that. They also have to
have similar parenting styles (if they're parents). If you're a parent, you know what
I mean.
4. How do you balance spending time with friends and
fostering relationships with work and family?
I don't! It's freaking impossible sometimes. But that's why it's good to have a friend that's
like you. That way you can be a big mess together. It all works out in the end.
5. What advice would you give other women about having
healthy, happy friendships?
Stop talking smack about each other and support each other! Ugh! I can't believe how
snarky we as women can be. We gotta just let that kinda stuff go.
6. How has having strong friendships enriched your life?
It really has. I'd say the friends that I have have surpassed even friendship level. We're
really all just family.
7. What is your favorite girlfriend memory you have shared?
Probably just the late nights giggling and talking about how one day we were going to
move out and get our first apartment together and how we'd talk everyday and drink
coffee. None of it happened, and we definitely took different paths - but it was really cute
how into it we'd get.
Thank you so much for sharing, Jess!
The relationship you share with Jenny sounds like a lifelong blessing!
