This week, I though that it would be fun to hear what Isabelle is currently up to. She is
such a curious, energetic little girl and I am constantly amazed by how much she has
grown this summer. She will be entering into the third grade in less than two weeks
and I can only imagine the adventures she will take us on this school year...
Isabelle is currently...
Listening...to "Call Me Maybe" by Carley Rae Jepsen. It has a lot of energy
and is really fun to dance to!
Daydreaming ..about my new school. I am starting a new school this year for
the third grade and I am really excited to meet new friends.
Wanting...a golf cart so that I can explore the woods behind my house and find
new species of birds.
Looking...at a book about animals. My favorite animals are dogs
and elephants.
Writing...in my diary. I like to write about my life and how my days go. I
like to draw pictures of birds and my family and I have a special bookmark to hold
my place.
Listening...to No Doubt's new song, "Settle Down". No Doubt is one of those bands
I have grown up with: from screaming out the lyrics to "Just a Girl" with my best friends
in high school to dancing along to "Hella Good" at the local bar on Friday nights, they are
just one of those bands that I'll always love. This new single is at the top of my
summer playlist and the lyrics really hit home: "I'm a rough and tough and nothin's
gonna knock this girl down." Preach, Gwen!
Daydreaming...about cooler weather, camping, hiking trips, and football. I
have autumn on the brain with all its crisp temperatures and pumpkin spice scents. I
long for a cup of hot chocolate and the sounds of the NFL wafting through the house.
Fall really is my favorite time of year.
Wanting...to eat as clean as possible. Shawn's healing process has been an
amazing journey of cleaning up our act: health wise. One of the most essential parts
of getting him well is ensuring that everything he puts into his body is nutritionally
sound and good. I have put a lot of time and energy into cooking our family the most
organic, unprocessed foods that I can, something I've always strived to do but now feel
even more determined to. What I've found is that we all feel better as a result.
The healthier you eat, the more motivated you are to eat even healthier. It's exciting to
see your mind and body react in a positive way to the things you put into it.
Looking...at a pile of laundry that needs my attention and most likely will not get
it today. There are more important things to do, like climb into bed with a good book and
a cup of tea.
Writing...it all down. My calender is full, my reminder lists long, my grocery
list constantly replenishing itself. Putting things on paper make them seem
more manageable to me, gives my brain something to chew on. My weekly menus and
to-do lists make me feel in control amidst a world where I know damn sure that I
actually have very little control. It's all a matter of perspective.

Little miss Isabelle is such a cutie! I love "Call Me Maybe" too, I jam out to it in my car after I drop the kids off at daycare. ;)
I'm with you, I have to write things down, it helps me to remember all of the millions of things that are swirling around my brain at any given mommy moment. :) And NO DOUBT - yesssss! I love Holla Back Girl. ;)
I, too, can't wait for football! Nothing like a roast in the slow cooker, wearing your comfy clothes, and watching the game while the snow is falling!
I somehow missed all of the terrible things that happened to your husband a while back! And I just went back and read it not too long ago. I am SO happy he is okay and recovering, and so sorry for all of the pain you have had to go through! I can't imagine how scary the whole experience was. I am praying for your family.
She is just the cutest little lady. I love her. I love that she writes in a diary. I had many diaries at that age and remember how important I felt knowing I was the only one with a key.
I'm starting to daydream about cooler weather too. This has been the hottest summer I can remember and I miss being able to be outside and be active without completely melting into a pool of sweat.
Truly, I wonder how she will feel about that diary when she's in her 20s. Sometimes I look at my "first" diary and it makes me smile so! (It was black with pink hearts and a lock so no one could read my innermost thoughts but one time I locked myself out and I found out how easy it was to pick.)
I just heard Settle Down the other day on the radio. Classic No Doubt. LOVE.
You will appreciate that I saw them open for Bush back in the day, you know, before anyone knew them. I'm getting a kick out of telling young people things like that now that I'm "oldish."
I wrote almost the same thing for daydreaming in my Currently post. I can't wait for fall.
Look at Isabelle blogging! Too cute! I have been thinking a lot lately about letting Jonathan take over the blog for a day. I could only imagine! LOL
So funny, right? I will definitely include her more!
I saw that same tour!!!! When Gwen and Gavin fell in love:) What a love story...
I still have my first dairy, too and it is just plain ridiculous. There is much discussion about boys, what books I was reading (Babysitters Club, duh), and what I was wearing. I was such a nerd.
Diaries are definitely a rite of passage! I still have a bunch of mine! I bought Isabelle her first diary last Christmas and she loves to write in it and draw pictures. Sometimes she will even share bits and pieces of it with me, like the time she glued pictures of Justin Bieber inside and wrote a story about "a princess and a rock star". Hilarious!
Thank you, Haley!!! You are so kind.
YES!!! Well, we never get snow but comfy clothes and the crock pot are my favorites!!!
I love that song!!!! And Belle sings "Call Me Maybe" so much that I know all the words by heart!
It's the best season of all!
